Week Nine: Instant Messaging
"Welcome to Meebo!"
I connected on Meebo with my Yahoo account and saw my contact list, already there. -- Yahoo did disconnect me from their chat though. I've used it because it shows up inside Yahoo! Mail. I then got on Meebo with my Facebook and now I can easily message all the other 23 things participants. -- Yet, Facebook already has a cool chat application. -- But, you can sign on to more than one account through Meebo and see different friends from different accounts at once. Nice.
At our library we use Meebo for online reference questions. It's easy for patrons and it gives us those extra seconds to form a reply. It also beats being on the phone with someone waiting for help right in front of you. It's a convenient not-so-instant messenger too!

Week Eight: Cloud Computing
"As a participant in 23 Things Kansas, you’ve had your head in the clouds since January!"
-Diana Weaver
I regularly use cloud computing for work & personal use, I think (computing via the Internet).
For this assignment, I allowed sharing on my Yahoo Calendar.
Then I sent a link to one of my co-workers and to a fellow 23 Things participant:
Please notice my schedule for next week. I will be out on Monday March 8th.

Week Seven: Microblogging
I've been on Twitter for a while now. It's super easy. Tweet current events or keep up with other's tweets. Now I'm following "What's happening?" from screen names listed on the 23 Things Kansas site. Come follow me, t_e_resa .

Week Six: Tagging and Social Bookmarking
Whew! Bookmarks, bookmarks, bookmarks ... Myself , I don't have enough use for Delicious. It's so much easier to decide you want a site's address, click add to Favorites ... and just dump that puppy into a favorite folder.
For the purpose of networking, our task(s) at hand, social bookmarking services would be a great source to share common links (MLA Handbook, Calendars, etc. ) @ Mabee reference desk.

Week Five: RSS and Feed Readers
I'm subscribed to Bloglines and playing with my subscriptions. So many to choose from!!
I like using RSS feeds on "My Yahoo" to keep up with New Urban Legends on snopes.com
and What's for Dinner? on campbellkitchen.com. I get on Yahoo for news & to check e-mail, so it's the easiest place to put RSS feeds and maintain them. I'm already removing and adding others as I find the ones that don't update often -- or just aren't very useful.

Week 4 – PhotoSharing
http://tiny.cc/xPYWLThomas Hawk is really excited about photography. He wants Flickr to publish a book highlighting all the greatest shared photographs on Flickr. I'll bite!
